Standard Owner Benchmark - GREEN ADVANTAGE

By CommonShare

Green Advantage is an internationally recognized non-profit educational and credentialing body with a mission to provide construction industry personnel with the knowledge and credentials necessary for successful project delivery in the realm of high-performance, sustainable, and healthy buildings. Since its establishment in 1996, Green Advantage has played a crucial role in promoting environmentally sensitive construction practices and advancing the skills and abilities of construction workers.

At the core of Green Advantage's work is the development and accreditation of three ANSI-accredited credentials: Green Advantage Certified Practitioner (GACP), Green Advantage Certified Associate (GACA), and Green Advantage Certified Practitioner-Facility Manager (GACP-FM). These credentials signify a comprehensive understanding of sustainable building practices, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and environmental stewardship.

Green Advantage's efforts to educate and credential construction workers have received recognition and support from esteemed organizations. Shortly after its inception, Green Advantage was awarded a grant by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to develop a green credential specifically tailored for construction workers. Furthermore, funding support from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), The Nature Conservancy, and the Ford Foundation has further strengthened Green Advantage's ability to carry out its mission.

The vision that drives Green Advantage is one of a built environment globally that is constructed in an environmentally sensitive manner while supporting social and economic sustainability. By equipping construction personnel with the necessary knowledge, skills, and credentials, Green Advantage aims to be a leading credentialing organization both nationally and internationally.

Through its educational materials, training programs, and credentialing initiatives, Green Advantage strives to elevate the construction industry's standards for sustainable and healthy building practices. By ensuring that construction personnel possess the expertise required for high-performance building delivery, Green Advantage contributes to a more environmentally conscious and socially responsible built environment worldwide.
