Standard Owner Benchmark - Green Star Hotel
By CommonShare
Green Star Hotel is a leading international hospitality certification program that recognizes hotels and resorts for their sustainable development and management practices. It is committed to promoting environmental responsibility and sustainable development within the hospitality industry. The program is recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and is used by companies and products worldwide. Moreover, the Green Star Hotel rating system is based on a certification process in which "Green Stars" are given based on how well the hotel performs in terms of the environment. A Green Star Hotel certification requires dedication. The hotel must not only complete the Green Star Hotel capacity construction program but also 100% of the other requirements. Additional environmental and social initiatives, as well as cutting-edge environmental practices, are also acknowledged. An independent audit conducted by an audit panel will confirm this. The hotel can earn 3, 4, or 5 Green Stars, based on the points that each hotel can earn from the optional criteria, if the obligatory criteria are all satisfied and depending on how intense the commitment to sustainability is. The rating system for the Green Star Hotel (GSH) Host Family is as follows:
1 Star: A basic level of cleanliness and comfort is provided. 2 Stars: A higher level of cleanliness and comfort is provided. 3 Stars: The highest level of cleanliness and comfort is provided. 4 Stars: An exceptional level of cleanliness and comfort is provided. 5 Stars: The ultimate level of cleanliness and comfort is provided.
