Sustainable Brand Benchmark - Lovisa Holdings

By CommonShare

Lovisa Holdings Limited is an Australian-based fashion jewelry and accessories retailer, renowned for its on-trend offerings and expansive collection. Founded in April 2010, the company has rapidly grown to establish a significant global presence.

The brand was launched by Brett Blundy, a prominent Australian billionaire and the former chairman of BB Retail Capital (BBRC), in partnership with Shane Fallscheer, who served as the managing director and executive director. Lovisa was envisioned as an extension of BBRC's existing jewelry brand, Diva, and has since carved out its own niche in the fast-fashion jewelry sector.

As of July 2023, Lovisa boasts an impressive network of 801 stores across 39 countries, including Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, France, and the United States. The brand also operates franchised stores in the Middle East and Vietnam, showcasing its wide appeal and international reach.

The company's growth strategy has included significant acquisitions, such as the purchase of part of the European retail store network of German jewelry wholesaler Beeline GmbH in November 2020. This deal involved 74 stores operating under the Six and I Am brands across Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, and Luxembourg, which were subsequently rebranded as Lovisa stores. In December of the same year, Lovisa further expanded its European footprint by acquiring Beeline's 30 stores in France.

Despite facing challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as exiting the Spanish market due to poor support from landlords, Lovisa has continued to push forward with its global expansion. This resilience is exemplified by the opening of a 5,000 square meter warehouse in Poland in 2023, aimed at enhancing the company's logistics capabilities in the European region.

Lovisa's commitment to providing accessible fashion jewelry is reflected in its product range, which includes a variety of styles to suit different tastes and occasions. The company's success is underpinned by its ability to offer high-quality products at affordable prices, catering to the fashion-conscious consumer looking for the latest trends without breaking the bank.

The company's leadership, including Chairman Brett Blundy and CEO Victor Herrero, has been instrumental in guiding Lovisa through its journey from a domestic brand to a global player in the fashion jewelry market. With a focus on design, development, sourcing, and merchandising, Lovisa continues to deliver on its promise of bringing the latest jewelry styles to its customers worldwide.
