Aviv is a full subsidiary of Olam International Limited. For Olam, Water has been identified as one of the 7 Focus Area because the world’s demand for freshwater supplies has risen dramatically in recent decades, in parallel with population growth – 70% of the world’s freshwater supply is now consumed by agriculture. Much of Olam’s agriculture is in the Tropics where rainfall is abundant for crops, if the fresh water source is far from our communities, we support the development of boreholes as well as developing water management plans and investing in water-saving technology. Aviv is a project of 2000ha of coffee plantations under drip irrigation. Because Ruvuma RIver is our unique source of water, its sustainable management is crucial for the success of the project in compliance with Olam international values.
