NIKARI
Nikari was founded in 1967 in Seinäjoki, next to Nikkarinkoski river. The company name is a play with the Finnish word “nikkari”, meaning a cabinet maker, the name of the area Nikkarinkoski (meaning “the river stream of the cabinet maker”) and the founder’s own name, Kari Virtanen.
We want to create beautiful, long-lasting wooden furniture according to our 50-year old original idea of combining modern design with the Finnish craftsmanship tradition. Today it feels more important than ever to take into account all the different qualities of a proper product from high-quality design and functionality to sustainable production.
The Nikari studio-workshop is located in the beautiful, unique Fiskars village in south-west Finland, in the oldest machinery workshop of the country.
