Selfridges was founded by American entrepreneur Harry Gordon Selfridge in 1909 and is widely regarded as the first and best example of a modern department store.

In 2018, Selfridges was recognized as the Best Department Store in the World for an unprecedented fourth time and retained the honor until 2020.

Selfridges has been a leading London retail destination and a UK landmark for over a century, challenging the rules of retail from day one. They were also named best Retailer 2020 at the Positive Luxury Awards.
