Suolo e Salute is one of the main control and certification bodies for organic production in Europe. It is the first organism control and certification body in Italy: it certifies 19,000 operators (agricultural, livestock and processing companies), over 27% of the national total and over 650,000 hectares of agricultural area, corresponding to 1/3 of the surface Italian agriculture invested in organic farming. In some Italian regions, such as the Marche and Calabria, the company certifies well over 50% of all organic farms in the area. It is one of the most important Control Bodies in terms of number of controlled organic mills and cellars. Also in terms of animal husbandry, Suolo e Salute has a leading role, certifying the largest number of organic farms in Italy. The biological and territorial binomial is at the base of our activity, as witnessed by the Val di Vara area, the so-called "organic valley" in Liguria, where almost all the companies are controlled by Suolo e Salute. Still in this sector, Suolo e Salute is working hard to ensure that the Val di Vara experience can represent the first example of revitalizing the territory through organic farming. The "BioTerr" project intends, in fact, to start from organic farming to stimulate the economic, tourist and environmental development of an area. We believe this is the way that best combines economy, agriculture and respect for the environment. Organic is a passion that has lasted 50 years for Suolo e Salute.
