Ambercycle Inc. is a materials science company that aims to end waste and improve sustainability in the fashion industry by creating the ecosystem for circular textiles. Founded in 2015 by Shay Sethi and Moby Ahmed, the Los Angeles based company has developed and scaled a breakthrough technology called Ambercycling™, which regenerates end-of-life textile waste into new materials that can be used to make new garments.

Products and Services

Ambercycle's main product is cycora®, a revolutionary material that is made from old garments by using Ambercycling™ technology. cycora® is a direct replacement for the conventional polyester that is used in billions of pounds annually in the fashion industry. cycora® has the same functional characteristics as conventional polyester, but it is more sustainable, climate positive, and circular. cycora® can be used by apparel brands and designers to produce high quality garments with circularity in mind.

Ambercycle also offers services such as textile waste collection, sorting, and processing, as well as material development and customization. Ambercycle works with partners across the value chain, from waste collectors and recyclers, to yarn and fabric manufacturers, to fashion brands and retailers, to create a circular ecosystem for textiles.

Achievements and Recognition

Ambercycle has achieved several milestones and received recognition for its innovation and impact. Some of the highlights are:

• In 2021, Ambercycle closed an oversubscribed $21.6 million Series A financing from H&M CO:LAB, KIRKBI, Temasek, BESTSELLER’s Invest FWD, and Zalando.
• In 2023, Ambercycle signed a three-year agreement with Inditex, the parent company of Zara, to supply regenerated polyester for over €70 million.
• In 2023, cycora® joined GANNI's 'Fabrics of The Future' initiative, which showcases innovative and sustainable materials in the fashion industry.
• In 2023, Ambercycle partnered with Far Eastern Group, a leading textile manufacturer in Asia, to produce and distribute cycora® in the region.
• In 2023, Ambercycle enabled circularity at New York Fashion Week, collaborating with Los Angeles streetwear brands and luxury brands to showcase cycora® in their collections.
