Ethiopian social entrepreneurs and sisters, Elsabet and Eyerusalem grew up witnessing how a simple opportunity for a dignified job has the power to change people’s lives for the better. And this over time has become the central ethos of what we do at Sabegn.

In 2011 we began to experiment with a simple idea of developing a leather wallets in partnership with a Young Ethiopian Designer. This small project revealed the potential of Ethiopian Artisans as well the lack of proper and fair employment channels for them. Through this process we realized that sustainable impact could be made through creating fair jobs and partnerships.

By the time 2018 took hold of our beautiful city of Addis Ababa,  Sabegn Concept Store  opened with the idea of empowering the community by creating sustainable employment and crafting a unique customer experience by showcasing (more than 50) of some of the finest up and coming visual artists, photographers, jewellery brand, fashion, lifestyle and accessories designers in Ethiopia. 

And now with the launch of our online shop, we are able to reach a wider audience starting with leather bags and expanding into an array of unique world class handcrafted products.

Our bigger than business agenda is creating a sustainable impact by actively employing Ethiopian Artisans as well as making sure they are fairly compensated for the incredible work they do.
