Solvay Chemicals
Solvay’s Green River facility in Wyoming is the world’s largest natural sodium carbonate operation, underscoring the company’s leadership in the production of soda ash. The site’s extensive operations convert trona ore into high-quality soda ash, serving industries ranging from glass manufacturing to chemicals and beyond.
A dedicated bicarbonate unit at the plant further processes soda ash by reacting it with CO₂ to produce USP-grade sodium bicarbonate, a key ingredient in a variety of applications. Notably, this sodium bicarbonate is used as a blowing agent in Cruz Foam’s sustainable packaging solutions, contributing to the growing demand for eco-friendly, biodegradable foam products.
With an annual capacity of 235,000 tons, the facility operates with a strong commitment to environmental management, holding ISO 14001 certification and FDA Drug Master File (DMF) status for pharmaceutical-grade products. Solvay’s Green River site is a cornerstone of sustainable industrial production and responsible resource utilization.
