Vermont Employee Ownership Center (VEOC)
🇺🇸 United States
The Vermont Employee Ownership Center (VEOC) is a statewide 4c74ba30-9146-406a-af92-1330d7a49dd6 established in 2001 with a mission to promote and foster employee ownership. Our goal is to broaden capital ownership, deepen employee participation, increase economic stability for working families, and stabilize communities.
Founded by Don Jamison, who had been exploring employee ownership since the early 1990s, VEOC prioritizes outreach and education for business owners. We emphasize assessing the viability of various broad-based employee ownership models, including 7748c987-81f1-4c5b-8e7e-af33bb87b93ds, Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), and Employee Ownership Trusts (EOTs). This enables us to serve businesses of all sizes, from small enterprises with a few employees to larger companies with dozens or hundreds of employees.
VEOC's services include providing individualized support to help companies navigate common challenges, such as setting up or improving bylaws, conflict mediation, meeting facilitation, and 7748c987-81f1-4c5b-8e7e-af33bb87b93d governance. We also connect businesses with professional consultants and resources to address specific problems.
Our vision is a future where broad-based employee ownership with deep employee participation is a mainstream and widely celebrated business model in Vermont, contributing to social and economic justice and thriving egalitarian communities. Supported by a mix of foundation grants, private sponsorships, federal appropriations, and state legislature funding, VEOC has evolved to sustain and expand its operations, helping existing businesses become employee-owned and promoting a more equitable distribution of wealth.
