Nivarox-FAR SA
Nivarox-FAR, a renowned Swiss specialist in crafting oscillating and escapement components, was established in 1984 through the merger of Nivarox SA and Fabriques d'Assortiments Réunis (FAR). The origins of Nivarox can be traced back to 1933 when Dr. Straumann made significant advancements in hairspring manufacturing in his Swiss laboratory located in Waldenburg. On the other hand, FAR, in 1932, was chosen as the umbrella name for a cluster of companies and subsidiaries situated in Le Locle, Switzerland, which were engaged in producing various watch components.
At present, Nivarox-FAR operates four manufacturing plants situated in the heart of Switzerland's watchmaking hub, nestled in the Jura mountains. The company leverages advanced design and technology to create critical components for some of the world's most prestigious mechanical watches. Their specialization encompasses:
- Crafting escapement components, including the pallet, escape wheel, and impulse-pin.
- Providing rubies used for elevating pallets and ruby impulse-pins.
- Manufacturing oscillating parts, such as the balance (comprising the inertia-block, screws, and nut), balance-spring, and sprung-balance.
- Creating small, precision-turned components like screws, pinions, pallet-staff, stud, and staff.
- Producing micro-stamping elements, including the brace.
- Employing electro-erosion techniques.
