The shoe and leather goods unit produces cowhide leather for furniture, sporting goods, saddlery, and other products. Pittards' clients have included Adidas, Louis Vuitton, Timberland, and Timex. The company has been in operation since 1826. Though formerly owned by the founding Pittard family, the company is now controlled by Swedish investor Peter Gyllenhammar (backer of a number of other British manufacturing companies) through his Browallia AB.
